Anglo-Saxon urn

Findspot:
Lackford, Suffolk
Period:
Date:
Anglo-Saxon, 5th - 6th century
Material:
Pottery

This vessel may have been made by a competent potter, but it was almost certainly decorated by a child who lacked the manual dexterity to make even and identical incised lines. They were probably trying, and failing, to replicate a pattern.
