Wooden child's bow

Mary Alicia Owen collected this painted wooden bow in Iowa during the late nineteenth century. She noted how Meskwaki children used them:

All the little boys and many of the little girls are skilful archers. They use the sharp arrows to kill rabbits and squirrels, the blunt ones to break the necks of birds and field mice.
